Therapy for children
Music therapy can be an effective intervention with children in many different ways. I work with children of all ages addressing issues such as anxiety, depression or those dealing with traumatic events. I also work with children with learning difficulties.
Music therapy can be an effective way of using 'play' as a relational tool where words can be difficult or are not available. This includes addressing emotional or behavioural problems as well as working more developmentally, especially with younger children, where the basic building blocks of communication and interaction, and therefore relational awareness, can be described as being inherently musical.
